I first fell in love with Manhattan on a trip to the United States when I was 13. I remember feeling overwhelmed when we landed at JFK, but quickly enjoying the urban wildness and excitement of the city. I’ve been lucky to visit New York many times since, but I didn’t think I’d be back this year. It was really exciting to be invited for an overnight press trip by EOS for the launch of their new Crystal Lip balm, and enjoy some time in the city.
Since I was traveling with fellow style bloggers, a quick photo shoot was first on our list on our day in Manhattan. I immediately knew we should head to the New York Public Library. Last year, Cee and I travelled to New York with our guys for 2 weeks. We took so many amazing photos, but the set we took at NYPL was my absolute favourite. It’s an all white marble building. Read: Instagram heaven! This place is an absolute must when visiting the city. We made our way to Bryant Park through rush hour, passing Times Square and Grand Central Station. The whole morning felt very New York.I kept this look simple, opting for an all black ensemble. Black tends to not show wrinkles, which is ideal when you’ve squished all your clothes into a carry on. I paired this light weight peplum blouse with an Aline skirt and stacked up heels. Although these are my favourite on the go heels, my Adidas Three Stripes were tucked into my purse so I could slip into them before venturing out. New York is a fast pace place, and I wanted to be ready to roll. No running in heels here!
Whenever I’m in the Manhattan, I’m reminded of a quite by author Thomas Wolfe. ‘One belongs to New York instantly. One belongs to it as much in five minutes as in five years.’ It felt good to be back, even if just for a moment.
Thank you to my girl Cee from Coco and Vera for taking my photos, and Alicia Fashionista and Samantha Sito for such a fun day in the city! Be sure to check out their blogs for their take on our New York Adventure.
