One of my favourite things to do on a weekend morning is visit the Vancouver Art Gallery. The current exhibit ‘Monet’s Secret Garden’ has made our visits even more frequent. A wander through the beautiful paintings, before enjoying a latte on the gallery patio is the perfect way to spend a morning.
I have always loved visiting museums and art galleries. I’ve had this love since I was a child, and my parents will tell you I’ve taken (dragged) them to many! I have fond memories of being in London when I was 13, and visiting the Tate Modern, The National Portrait Gallery and The British Museum. There’s something so wonderful about walking through a quiet gallery and viewing pieces of history. We’re heading to London next week, and our gallery list is quite long! I can not wait to be back in the city, and take in all the incredible exhibits.
So while our gallery can not be compared to those you would see in London, Monet’s Secret Garden is magnificent. Featuring thirty-eight paintings from the collection of the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris, the exhibition holds a series of paintings that were created in Monet’s famous gardens in the French village of Giverny, where Monet lived from 1883 to the end of his life.
The gallery patio is a hidden gem in the city. The cafe is one of my favourite spots to enjoy a latte or a glass of wine and escape the city hustle and bustle. If you’re in Vancouver, make time to stop by. Every time I visit, I depart feeling inspired, relaxed and really excited to visit galleries in London, Paris and Prague next week!
