Nordstrom hosted over 20 of the country’s top beauty experts at their Beauty Trends Show in Vancouver. I was invited for a preview of the brands and to chat with a few of the experts as they kicked off the weekend event.
We were welcomed into Nordstrom’s beauty department for a tour of the key beauty counters and chat with the various brand reps about the latest products for the Holiday season. We experienced some amazing brands including Charlotte Tilbury, Chantecaille, Tata Harper and Kat Burki.
The highlight of my morning though was meeting Alli Webb, the founder of The Drybar. Alli has successfully grown Drybar from a side business to almost 50 Drybar location across the US. Nordstrom is home to the first Canadian Drybar location, featuring their signature yellow ‘Buttercup’ dryers and other styling tools in their darling salon. Alli has been on the list of Fortune’s ’40 under 40′ and Fast Company’s ‘100 Most Creative People in Business’. I had the opportunity to chat with Alli at the Drybar, while enjoying a blow out to finish off a delightful morning of beauty.
The next morning, Granville Street was a ghost town when I arrived outside Nordstroms at 7:30am . As I stepped off the escalator on the third floor, it was a completely different story. It was a full house, the room filled with excited customers, ready for the beauty trends runway show. Regional Beauty Director, Joelle Russo hosted the fantastic event, inviting each brand onto the stage to talk about their company and their favourite products. The models strutted down the runway wearing the latest Fall fashion available at Nordstrom and showcasing the Holiday Beauty items.
Runway Show Highlights
Erin Stein from Charlotte Tilbury
It’s no secret I’ve become a huge fan of Charlotte’s make up ever since I was first introduced to the line. I was treated to Erin doing my make up the day before, and every product she used was incredible. Charlotte’s has created 10 different ‘Looks’ in her collection to suit your every mood. Erin created the Dolce Vita look on me, which I LOVED! The eye shadow’s fine powder makes it easy to blend, creating a dramatic, but soft eye. Charlotte is also famous for creating JLo’s signature glow, so every single one of Charlotte’s bronzing products are incredible.
Sara Habb – The Lip Scrub
In 2005, after reading “exfoliate lips with a wet washcloth or toothbrush” for the twentieth time, Sara Habb decided to create The Lip Scrub. A few months later, People magazine ran a story about this new thing called a “lip scrub” and immediately thousands of orders flooded in. Sara’s scrub continues to be a hit with customers, and she has expanded her line to include lip balms, glosses, and colour crayons.
Kate and Tal from bkr
If you don’t recognize the brand, you’ve definitely seen the stylish bkr bottles. Founders Tal Winter and Kate Cutler were close friends and young lawyers in San Francisco. Their daily beauty regimens consisted of mascara, a swipe of lip gloss and—the key to flawless beauty—a bottle of water.
They realized they were drinking their water from trash: cheap, disposable, plastic water bottles. Not glamorous. Instead, they wanted to drink from something clean, clear, soft and beautiful that felt like a couture accessory and not camping equipment. Four years later bkr has gained a dedicated following, earning its reputation as a coveted beauty essential and the solution to staying hydrated. Each season bkr releases limited edition collections inspired by the latest runway trends. The bottles are BPA-free, phthalate-free, and totally adorable.

The Mèreadesso line of skincare products is designed for the individual who understands that there is no one “magic ingredient” to solve all their needs.
