A casino set inside the Grand Palais, Paris
A platoon of Karl Lagerfeld’s muses emerged to take a seat at the roulette table in the middle of the runway. The players included Kristen Stewart, Jemima Kirke, Rita Ora, Lara Stone, Vanessa Paradis, Stella Tennant, and Julianne Moore.
Each star wore bespoke Chanel, made especially for the event by Karl Lagerfeld. Their looks were accessorized with re-editions of the first ‘Bijoux de Diamants’ collection created by Mademoiselle Chanel in 1932.
Karl Lagerfeld united traditional Haute Couture techniques with 3D technology. He created a collection of suits using ‘selective laser sintering’ to make suits that were painted, embroidered with beads, lined with satin, and braided in leather.
“The idea was to take the most iconic jacket from the 20th century and turn it into a 21st century version which was technically not possible at the time it was born” – Karl Lagerfeld
The collection had a rich colour palette.
Black, grey, navy, white and gold were punctuated by mauve, pink, green and red.
Makeup: Tom Pecheux exaggerated the models cheekbones with bold strokes of colour, along with dark, striking eyebrows. The lips were created with matte lipstick in rich mauve or bright cherry.
Hair: Sam McKnight and his team cut dark wigs into very angular, neo-tomboy bobs in various lengths.
Nails: French manicure with white nails and black tips
The Chanel Couture Bride
This season, Karl Lagerfeld chose Kendall Jenner to close the show in a white suit with a long tulle veil.
