Club Monaco hosted their first presentation during New York Fashion Week. We were excited to attend the show located in beautiful Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central station. We walked into the iconic space that had been partitioned off by a c through door, allowing passers by to catch a glimpse of the presentation too.
Club Monaco Lifestyle
A unique feature of the event was the kiosks around the space, showcasing the brand’s ongoing evolution into a lifestyle destination. Club Monaco recreated the little shops that are housed within the brand’s 5th Avenue store, located right next to the Flatiron Building.
We snacked on cookies from Momofuku Milk (SO yummy!) picked up magazines from their Rizzoli news stand and sipped delicious coffee in a can from La Colombe Coffee Roasters. We were also handed a cute tote bag when we arrived and could pick up tea, jam granola and even a loaf of break from Gjelina Bakery!
The Women’s Fall Collection
The show was an unveiling of the Fall capsule collection; a selection of 35 exclusive men’s and women’s looks titled ‘The New York Fashion Week Fall Collection.’ Featuring feminine elements like ruffles and puff sleeves and romantic floras motif, juxtaposed with military inspired pieces like clean top coats and elongated trousers. There were also lots of beautiful textures in the collection that was designed to be layered, mixed and matched.
“The Fall Fashion Week Collection flirts with contradictions, said creative director Caroline Belhumeur. “We continue to evolve heritage pieces, but layer on a Victorian sensibility with feminine prints and unfussy details. This is offset with military tailoring and a play on shrunken versus oversized proportions.”
And these lovely flowers!
Another element from the presentation I loved was the flower stand. Guests were able to take a selection of florals as the departed. I picked a handful of white roses that were the perfect prop for outfit photos after the show, and brighten up our New York apartment the rest of the week.
What I wore
This white eyelet lace skirt is a favourite from Club Monaco. I paired it with my Mezzi Cosima bag that was perfect for carrying the flowers, and my flats! We took these photos in Grand Central station after the show just before rush hour, which is quite the sight to see!
