February can go by in a bit of a blur. We’re busy, and the grey weather isn’t great for motivation. Having a full schedule isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But staying positive, keeping stress level low and staying on top of that to do list, it can be a bit of a juggle. With that in mind, I’ve come up with some tips to help keep you motivated, while we all eagerly await Spring.
1.Write it Down
Writing out a to do list makes it so much easier to manage your day. Isn’t it satisfying ticking things off that list?! If you are a visual person, this is a great way to organize your schedule. I like to keep a notebook on my desk for daily and long term tasks. If something doesn’t get done today, I move it over to the next list. This always makes me feel more in control of my work and easier to relax after 5pm.
2. Make your desk a place you want to be
What makes your desk work for you? Maybe it’s a totally minimal space with no distractions. Or, you’re like me and enjoy fresh flowers, a candle and a few books for inspiration on hand. Make sure your chair is comfy too so you can easily sit at your desk and get on with that to-do list!3. Upgrade your eyewear
Glasses are a necessary accessory for many of us. I say accessory because there are so many cool designs available to choose from. You can coordinate your eyewear with your outfit. I tend to wear a lot of pink, so I’m loving this blush pair I got from Clearly. It’s a New Year so be sure to check to see if your health insurance covers vision care. I also picked up these Valentino lace frames, that just went on sale. With Clearly’s prices, you can get two, too!
4. Get inspired
Taking brain breaks throughout the day is so important for productivity. Yes, I’m usually catching up on instragram stories, but I’m also remembering to look through all the amazing books we have on hand. We have quite the collection, so each week I put out a new set. Right now there is Garance Dore’s Love Style Life (a favourite) Draplin’s Design and one on Yves Saint Laurent. Don’t want to buy a book? Go to the library. It is such a great resource we often forget about. The Vancouver Public Library’s fashion section is fantastic!
5. Take time away from your desk
Sometimes you just need to get outside and go for a walk. Even if it’s just to your local cafe to grab a latte. Spring is coming and getting fresh air can do you a world of good. Do you have some errands on that to-do list? Take a break, tick the errand off your list and grab some fresh flowers for your desk on your way back.
