Dior Autumn-Winter 2015-2016 ready-to-wear campaign, shot by Willy Vanderperre near Christian Dior’s hometown of Granville.
The highly anticipated House of Dior Vancouver has finally opened, and it was well worth the wait. Located in the Fairmont Vancouver, the store is the largest Dior boutique in North America. We attended launch party to celebrate the opening of Dior and Dior Homme.
We weaved through the spectacular space, passing by well heeled attendees. Waiters circled the room carrying trays of Moët & Chandon champagne, hors d’oeuvres and macarons by Culinary Capers. DJ Brendan Fallis beats filled the boutique that was perfectly decorated with florals by Countdown Events.
The store’s design is inspired by the original concept of Dior’s Paris Avenue Montaigne Flagship boutique, designed by architecture Peter Marino (who is often seen front row at Dior runway shows, dressed in all leather.)
The stunning space features two levels; the first floor showcases accessories, bags, luxury bags, fine jewelry and watches and the upper level offers ready-to-wear, evening wear, shoes and the VIP fitting rooms.
As we walked up the staircase we stopped to observe the incredible feature wall by French filmmaker Yoram Mevorach Oyoram. Dior commissioned several contemporary artists for various design elements that would reflect the codes of the house, including artist Rob Wynne who created the cosmic glass ceiling in one of the upstairs rooms.
Other major design highlights are the Louis XVI-style marble and bronze antique fireplace, and Zodiac lighting in the shape of Mr. Dior’s Aquarius sign.
Our favourite department was the shoe section. Located upstairs, the bright space showcases chic pumps, boots and bejewelled sneakers. Mannequins dotted the room wearing the coveted Dior So Real mirrored sunglasses, that are definitely on our wish list!
The Dior boutique is located at 900 West Georgia Street in Vancouver.
