The Key Trend Stories for Fall 2015 / 2016

The 1970’s
The biggest reference dominating the Fall 2015 runways was the 1970’s. Many designer’s love this decade for its bohemian and romantic vibe, and so do we! The colour palette is based in earthy and neutral shades which were popular in the ’70s, including burnt orange, olive green, deep purple and rich brown.
The Fur Stole
Layering a fur stole over your outfit is the perfect ladylike touch to complete your look. The runways featured faux and real fur in every shades of the rainbow. We love this look – it’s so easy to incorporate into your wardrobe. Wear a fur stole over your favourite coat or jacket for a instant chic update.
Fringe is definitely one of the biggest detail trends for Fall 2015. From cascading fringe on coats to embellishments on skirts, the style has been seen in many variations. It can be edgy, ladylike, unexpected, yet completely wearable.
Flared Moment
Taking a cue from the massive 1970 revival, the Flare pant is back. Flares elongate your legs, and work perfectly with high heels or wedges. Switch up the skinny pants you’ve been wearing the past few season and try flares instead.
The Carwash Skirt
The car was skirt has become popular, probably due to the huge amount of fringe we’re seeing in fashion.  This design element shows some leg without revealing too much. It’s a very chic skirt silhouette.
Chic Shearling
Another winter favourite, shearling can be worn in oversize coats, cropped jackets, nubby vests, and so much more. Shearling is practical, and very beautiful as a lining or detail.
The Cape
A delightful silhouette for Fall, the Cape is the perfect transitional Autumn to Winter piece. We saw capes, blankets and wraps in many fabrications on the Fall 2015 runways.
Winter Cream
Cream coloured clothing always look so rich and chic in the winter. This season, many designers showcased creamy white shades on the runway, in various textured of fabric.
The Gaucho Pant
This wide-legged cropped pants is definitely a very ’70s silhouette. The gaucho pant is South American in origin, and traditionally features the pant worn with a wide brimmed hat – a very familiar silhouette from the Fall 2015 runways.
Long Skirts
The long skirt is a staple of the 1970’s trend. Showcasing every style from high slits, kick and knife pleats, fringe and carwash, the long skirt should definitely be a silhouette you embrace this Fall.
The Window Pane Print
The black and white windowpane print is a classic graphic print we’ve seen repeated the last few seasons.  You can easily incorporate this print into your wardrobe with a scarf, jacket, top or bottom.
