Fashion Week Survival Guide

fw-1We’re almost through fashion week, and so far, it’s been wonderful. Mainly because this season we didn’t overpack the schedule. I can not tell you how happy I am we made that decision. I’ve been coming to fashion week for almost 10 years, and it’s very different now to when it was held at Lincoln Centre, and before at Bryant Park.  Even though the week was still hectic, the shows were all relatively close together, if not all together. Now, you have to run all over town to get from show to show.

We’ve been moving at a really good pace this season, but it has still been incredibly busy. Being prepared is super important. Actually, being prepared on any New York trip is important! Here’s what I’m carrying in my purse to make the season as smooth and manageable as possible.

A loaded subway card is often the easiest way to get around the city. Uber is also really reliable when you’re on a tight time line. We don’t have Uber in Vancouver, and this trip has made me miss it SO much! When you’re in a rush, or going across town, its the best way to get around the city.

Starbucks has complimentary internet, which is so useful during fashion week. Especially as a Canadian when we’re paying an arm and a leg to get connected. So have a coffee, rest your feet and send all your snapchats!

Water, Protein, Vitamins:
Fashion week days are long, so I always carry a Flow Water and a protein bar. I stocked up at Whole foods before we departed. They have a great selection of healthy and nutritious snack options. Vitamin C packettes are also great to give yourself an energy boost!

Phone Charger:
My Mezzi bag has a built in charger which has been a life saver as snapchat and instagram stories drains your battery fast! Having a re-charge in your purse is an absolute must!

New York Guide Book:
This is a very personal choice, as I love this New York guide book. It’s very old, I’ve had it since I was 13 and it comes on every trip to New York. It’s a little outdated, but there are lots of great tips and stories about the city. The reason I included this is I think its SO important to take a break from fashion week and experience New York. This city is filled with so many amazing things to see and do. Take a time out, and make the most of New York trip!
