Milky shades of polish are perfectly on point this season. They are super feminine and the epitome of Spring. Finding the ideal pastel shade can be a bit of a challenge. Often the blues and pinks are too bright, but given the popularity of pastel nails on the runway, more brands are making these shades available. I’m sure you’re ready to switch from dark winter nails to something light and bright, so here is some inspiration for your next manicure appointment.
This shade of soft blue one of my favourite shades this time of year. It’s perfect to wear over Easter Long Weekend. Reminds me of decorated Easter eggs. The image above (with this gorgeous Chanel purse) is from last year and is OPI’s I Am What I Amethyst. Two other favourites are Essie’s Borrowed & Blue and Deborah Lippmann’s Blue Orchid.
As you know, Millennial Pink is a very popular colour this season, and is my go to nail colour. I like to find the palest shade of blush pink that’s opaque and not sheer. My favourites are OPI’s Hello Kitty Collection Let’s Be Friends (my go to) Deborah Lippman’s Chantilly Lace and Guerlain’s Pink Ballerinas.
Pastel purple is such a pretty shade, and if you’re like me and always go for soft pink, it’s a nice departure. Not a bright purple, but a creamy lilac shade is what you want. Try OPI’s To Be Continued Butter English Lavender and Essie’s Gel Couture Dress Call.
This can be a tough shade to find, but when you do, it’s wonderful. This soft grey is not quite white, but still very much a light neutral. White nail polish feels too much like a summer shade, so light grey is ideal to wear right now. Try Deborah Lippman’s Misty Morning, Butter Sterling or Jin Soon Doux.
Not a fan of pastel shades? Opt for a bright cherry red. Instead of a classic warm red, look for a slightly pinker shade. It an upbeat, happy colour for Spring. Almost every nail polish brand has a cherry red in their collection. My favourites are Dior Rouge, Essie’s Rock the Runway or NARS Paridiso.
