MAC’s latest designer collaboration is with the French design house, Giambattista Valli. The collection of 5 new matte shades will launch in stores next week on 9 July.
The lip shades were all inspired by fabric swatches in the Giambattista Valli fashion vault. Valli said he wanted to create a diverse range of colours that would reflect his design aesthetic: floral hues and standout textures.
“The texture is matte because it really gives you something graphic and modern. It’s good for the daytime, but for the party you’re going to wear glossy,” he said. “It’s like the cocktail dress, you can wear it with flats during the day to the office and then you can change the shoes like you can do with the glossy, do it more fun.”
This collection comes in brightly coloured metallic packaging – something new for MAC. Each tube is a metallic reflection of the lipstick colour.
“I’m somebody that loves practical things for women, beautiful, but at the same time practical,” Valli explained. “I think its much more comfortable to check in your bag and look right away at the colors. You carry two or three of them in your bag and right away you grab the one you need.”
Lipstick, $17.50 each, Gloss, $23; available July 9 at maccosmetics.com
