Over the last few weeks, I’ve been cleaning and organizing our place. Thanks to Marie Kondo, this has been one of the biggest trends for 2019 (a really good trend!) One of the areas I wanted to tackle was our bathroom and get rid of all the old, half used bottles. Many beauty products expire after a year, so it’s good to do a refresh.
As a beauty writer, I get sent lots of wonderful product to try. I have many favourites that I’ve used right til the last drop, and will definitely be replacing. Serums, moisturizer and makeup, here are my hero products in my beauty routine.
I attended a media appointment with Erno Laszlo this summer, and I’ve used every single one of their products they gifted me. This line is INCREDIBLE!! I just finished this Hydra Therapy Foaming Cleanser, which has been my go to cleanser the last few months. The pearly formula has a very soft foam, and leaves your skin feeling clean and refreshed. A few more favourites are the Hydra Therapy Serum and the Pore Refining Detox Double Cleanse.
Dior has become my go to for moisturizers and serums. I’ve tried quite a few of the products in the Capture Youth Series, and they are all very luxurious. They leave your skin feeling smooth and hydrated. I’ve just finished the plump filler Youth Serum and the Capture Youth Moisturizer, which are both fantastic. I just got the Capture Youth Intense Rescue Age-Delay Revitalizing Oil-Serum and I’m LOVING it so far.
Recently launched Canadian skincare line Veriphy is one to watch. It’s created from natural ingredient and uses phytoglycogen, a revolutionary plant-based ingredient. Created and manufactured in Canada, Veriphy has launched with three products: Self Absorbed Moisturizer, 20/20 Eye Cream and Power Trip Serum, all housed in beautiful dark green recyclable glass bottles.
The Body Shop
I’ve been a fan of The Body Shop’s moisturizers since I was a teenager. I usually use one of their classic Body Butters, but this time I tried their new Almond Body Yogurt. It absorbs super quickly into your skin, which makes it ideal to use after a shower. Of course, it smells delicious, just like all Body Shop products!
I was recently introduced to JOWAÉ, and was so impressed. This is a new brand collection from Alès Groupe, that is drawing on over 50 years of experience from the French laboratory of skincare along with using traditional plants of Korea.
The name JOWAÉ is inspired by the word ‘harmony’ in Korean, Jowaé pronounced tcho-wha-é. It’s a completely natural line that is free from parabens, silicon, animal product and synthetics. I’ve tried quite a few products from this collection, and I’m love the hydrating water mist, the purifying cleanser gel and moisturizing light cream.
Make up Favourites
Airflash Foundation by Dior has a super light weight formula with a aerosole applicator. The best way to use this is to spray a small amount on the back of your hand, and apply it with a brush or your fingers. It gives a slight powdery finish and quite a bit of coverage, even though it a light foundation. For touch ups through out the day, I’ve been using Dior’s 2 in 1 fix it stick. This 2 in 1 concealer hides dark circles, blemishes and is perfect to keep with you for touch ups throughout the day.
Of all the highlighter palettes I’ve used, Charlotte Tilbury Film StarBronzer is my absolute favourite. I LOVE this bronze and glow combo. It’s a blend of pearl and bronzer pigment that help contour your face and mimic that perfect sun-kissed glow.
I got this Burt Bees Eyebrow Pencil from the London Drugs beauty conference in Whistler and it’s almost all gone! I’ll definitely be buying a new one before travelling to Europe. It’s perfect if you like to use a classic pencil to fill in your brows.
Lastly, a few of my favourite lippies. I always have three or four lipsticks I’m using on a regular bases. My favourite brands are Pixi, and NARS and Charlotte Tilbury. For moisturizer, I love this Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto Beautifying Lip Balm. It’s also in the chicest pink leather container. Charlotte Tilbury makes the best nude shades, I always have one in my purse. For a cheap and cheerful option Pixi Lipstick are fantastic!
Charlotte Tilbury – Nude Kate, Bitch Perfect, Pillow Talk and Penelope Pink
NARS – Dolce Vita, Honolulu Honey, Rose Cliff
Pixi – Mattelustre Lipstick Bitten Rose, Petal Pink and Plum Berry
