After month of rumours, it has been confirmed that Hedi Slimane will be departing as Creative Director of Saint Laurent, a position he has held since 2012.
“I am very grateful to Hedi Slimane, and the whole Yves Saint Laurent team, for having set the path that the house has successfully embraced, and which will grant longevity to this legendary brand,” said François-Henri Pinault, Chairman and CEO of Kering in a statement.
Slimane is credited with making major changes to the brand including dropping ‘Yves’ from the name, redesigning the boutiques and relocating the creative studio to LA. No official word on who will replace Slimane.
UPDATE: Anthony Vaccarello has been appointed as the new creative director of Saint Laurent. Confirmation comes from Kering, the fashion group that owns the French fashion label. Vaccarello’s previous role was at Versus Versace.
