I’m officially back at my desk after a wonderful Holiday season, and a few bonus days off after New Years. I was so happy to be able to take some extra time before going back to work to relax, and get ready for 2019. Our apartment is tidy and I feel rested and inspired to get after my New Years goals.
Over our Holiday break, I took some time to prep and plan for the year ahead. For me, it’s less about making resolutions and more about figuring out what I want to achieve and how I measure success. From my career to relationships to my home and health, it’s a good time to reflect, and think about what’s next.
Our bonus days off were a combination of getting organized and downtime. After watching ‘Marie Kondo’s Tidying up’ on Netflix, I was very motivated to get our place in order. After a few focused hours of going through rooms, closets and draws, our home feels completely different. It’s crazy how clutter can cause stress, and how easy it is to get rid of stuff you don’t need, when you actually get after it.
Taking time out to rest and relax was so wonderful and much needed. I read my book, we went to the movies, indulged in some delicious meals and enjoyed a lovely staycation at JW Marriott. Just before New Years, we checked into the luxury hotel for a little break from reality. We stayed in a gorgeous corner suite, went for Italian dinner and a jazz show and had the best snooze in the king size bed. Heaven!
I’m so glad we really made the most of our time off in the city. The year always flies by, and with a little bit of planning, it all seems a lot more enjoyable. It’s an exciting and busy year ahead, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Happy New Years! Thanks for visiting by Style Calling.
