Holiday Beauty Tips and Tricks

Holiday Beauty MainI collaborate with so many wonderful beauty brands throughout the year, so my list of favourite products is rather long. For the Holidays, I’ve rounded up some of the best beauty buys of the season that would all make perfect last minute presents. Who doesn’t love a new mascara or lipgloss?

Meeting and collaborating with amazing experts is one of the best parts of my job. I’ve asked two of my favourite beauty gurus to share with their top tips for the Holidays. Sarah Lucero from stila cosmetics and Rita Remark essie nails can both be found backstage during New York Fashion Week creating beauty looks for some of the top designer collections. They’re sharing their favourite products and beauty tricks to help you look and feel your best this Holiday season.Holiday Beauty 2Sarah from Stila

What are your favourite Holiday products from stila?
I love all of the stila holiday sets. I stocked up on the “Big Shots” Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner & HUGE Extreme Lash Mascara Set,  because it has 2 products I wear daily, regardless of the season. It’s the one gift set that I keep giving away to all of my friends and family. The Stila HUGE Extreme Lash Mascara is truly the best mascara I’ve ever tried and I wear it daily. It’s super lush, creamy, and makes my lashes look HUGE! I like that.

What beauty look are you wearing this Holiday season?
Right now, I’m rocking the Modern Monochromatic Metallics – all about the eyes and layering textures with a metallic finish using stila Shimmer + Glow “Grace” and Glitter + Glow “Smoky Storm” (coming soon, Spring 2018) on top for mega shine on eyelids. This instantly brings the attention to your eyes.

I always layer 2-3 coats of HUGE Extreme Lash Mascara and a touch of stila Stay All Day Liquid Eye Liner to enhance my eye shape and balance the glitter! I also love a fun ruby red metallic lip for holiday. I’ve been wearing stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso Shimmer (coming soon, Spring 2018) with a nude eye. Red lips are always classic and super chic. Try adding a fun finish, such as metallic, and your lips will speak for themselves.

What make up trend should we keep an eye out for in 2018?
Layering textures like fabrics – shimmer, metallic, sheen, sparkle, duo chrome. I believe makeup is having a major moment right now and the future is in the finish! 2018 will be a fun time for new beauty looks and trends.

Do you have a trick to remove unwanted glitter?
Scotch tape is always great to have on hand (since it is holiday time and you are usually wrapping presents and have loads of scotch tape handy). stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows are so amazing because you don’t have to worry about getting glitter everywhere,  just have fun with your makeup and own it. A beautiful and confident girl always looks gorgeous to me.

What nail colour are you wearing this Holiday season?
This season I’ll be wearing Ring in the Bling from the winter collection. It’s such a decadent reflective red. Whenever I wear it, I can’t take my eyes off my hands! Red is my favourite nail colour to wear and this new shade takes it up a notch.

What are your favourite products from Essie for the Holidays?
I’m really excited about the new shades of Treat, Love, Color. The two-in-one colour and care formula couldn’t be better suited for the harsh winter weather that can wreak havoc on our nails. Now that the range has an impressive collection of 18 colours to choose from, we can all have healthy, and polished, nails without compromise.

What nail trends are you seeing for 2018?
At the start of the year, I’m seeing a lot of neutrals and paired down earth tones. After the holidays, nails tend to go on a glam detox, so it’s the perfect time of year to keep your nails trim and polished with a versatile shade. A soft mauve like Princess Charming from the Enchanted collection is beautiful and goes with everything as does the blackened burgundy Good Knight. You can consider this the calm before the storm because this spring and summer 2018 is lining up to become one of the most colourful yet! Bright vibrant oranges and pinks, almond nails, monogrammed nail art; our nails will have lots to say come April.

The gold mascara sounds very unique indeed, you could try mixing black mascara and adding gold at the tips for a unique twist, perhaps with a glitter golden eye.
