Wedding season is fast approaching. The major decision in planning a wedding (other than the dress) is the venue. The Loden Hotel teamed up with Weddingbell’s magazine to host a beautiful event called ‘Editor’s Picks.’ The event featured Weddingbell’s editor, Alison McGill presenting the top bridal trends for 2014.
The event showcased the beautiful Halo penthouse suite at the Loden Hotel. This is an ideal location for an intimate, and glamourous wedding. The rooftop terrace offers truly unparalleled luxury. It has panoramic view of the Vancouver skyline from the Coal Harbour neighbourhood to the south, the North Shore mountains to the north, Stanley Park to the west and the waterfront below.
The 1600 sq. ft. two bedroom palatial penthouse is the Loden’s grandest suite, with floor to ceiling windows and spectacular views of the Vancouver skyline. Delivering high style, luxury and functionality all in one, Halo instantly creates a seductive, dramatic atmosphere with its stunning décor, floor-to-ceiling windows, grand living room and dining area.
Once the event was in full swing, Alison presented her ‘Editors Picks’ of the top bridal trends for 2014.
Pink Wedding Dresses – The colour pink has always been a popular shade in bridal, but this season we are seeing it in wedding dresses. Designer Vera Wang showcased a collection of bridal gowns in many shades of pink this past season. Vera is a leader in bridal trends and we’re started to see more brides gravitate towards this colour. We’re also seeing celebrities adopt this trends – Jessica Biel and Kaley Cuoco both wore pink gowns on their wedding day.
Eclairs – The Loden, in partnership with the bakery, Cadeaux, made eclairs and wedding cakes as a special treat for the event. Eclairs are a delicious treat to have on your dessert table. These bridal eclairs are smaller in size and more delicate than a typical eclair. They are decadent, and not as messy as a regular sized eclair. Also on the dessert table were beautiful little cupcakes, covered in sparkle and glitter decorations created by Original Cupcakes.
Bouquets: Radiant Orchid/Lux/Rustic – The floral partner for the event, FLOWERZ created examples of three bouquets: radiant orchid, lux and rustic. As radiant orchid was the pantone of the season, we’re seeing this colour become a big trend in bridal, especially in floral design.
Silent Disco – This was such a fun feature at the event. The Loden is the first hotel in Vancouver to offer such a unique service. A huge trend right now, particularly in Europe is this type of dance. It involves giving headphones to guests and everyone dances (silently) to the same tunes. Super fun, unique and the best part is you don’t have to be concerned about any noise restrictions.
