For her Fall 2015 Ready-To-Wear collection, Mara Hoffman told Style.com, “When I was putting the palette together with all of these creams, whites, and camels, I thought, this is completely Luke Skywalker. I fell in love with the landscapes on his planet, Tatooine, and I wanted to modernize and feminize the 1977 film.”
The braid-coifed models seem to arrive on the runway out of a mirage, first in textured creams and tasseled necklaces, followed by psychedelic sun prints. The muted tones and stunning prints emulated the sunrise and sunset.
The desert illusion continues throughout with the introduction of water-inspired prints, bright pinks and oranges, stunning geometric colour explosions and dark twilight inverted triangles.
Sadly, every desert hallucination must come to an end. Hoffman completed the fantastical journey with glorious golden hour sunrays, leaving the audience basking in the glow of a show that will not soon be forgotten.
