Miu Miu’s latest campaign was shot by long-time creative partner Steven Meisel. The images bring the collection to life through a series of elegant portraits featuring a four international actors – Millie Brady, Julia Garner, Matilda Lutz and India Salvor Menuez.
The Miu Miu woman possesses a creative intelligence and an overtly rebellious sense of fashion, perfect for a label that defies any preconceived category or aesthetic. It is fitting then that the seasonal advertising campaigns have often featured emerging actors: Miu Miu celebrates the outsider, the iconoclast, and the risk-taker.
One of Britain’s fastest-rising stars Millie Brady, seen on ITV’s Mr. Selfridge, appears in Burr Steers forthcoming film Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, as well as the upcoming Knights of the Roundtable, a film by Guy Ritchie.New Yorker Julia Garner can be seen starring opposite Lily Tomlin in the film Grandma. She is currently filming Baz Luhrmann’s Netflix series The Get Down, and makes her stage debut in February opposite Zachary Quinto in Noah Haidle’s play Smokefall.
Italian actor Matilda Lutz was cast as the lead role on Paramount’s newest installment of The Ring to be released in April, she also recently completed filming a lead role in Gabrielle Muccino’s film Summertime.
Performance artist and actor India Salvor Menuez will appear in the highly anticipated film White Girl, debuting at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, and recently sat for multiple portraits with painter John Curran.
The Spring 2016 collection is a study in extreme contrasts: tweed, jacquard, knit, satin, gingham, lace and leather are all featured simultaneously in complex, textural compositions. The colours are as diverse as the materiality comprising greys and taupes intercut with deep maroon, gold, and blue. The forms range from the exaggerated trench with white and brown leather to a yoked cotton shirt drawn straight from the prairie.
