Mother’s Day and my Mother’s birthday are both in May, so I’m always on the look out for the perfect gift. This year, I’m looking for something monogrammed.
I got this idea when Coach invited me to monogram one of their signature Saddle bags at their flagship Vancouver location. This is a service they do in store at all their locations for almost all of their products. I loved this idea and was really excited to experience the service for myself. I met with Kathine, the store manager at the Burrard Street location who takes care of monogramming items for Coach customers.
Once I picked my purse (The white whiplash saddle bag) Kathine showed me the various monogramming options. Monogramming is available in two sizes, and in multiple colours including gold and silver. We started out with a key chain, which I chose in white leather with gold to match this beautiful flower key chain, that’s a signature for Coach this season. Since the purse I chose was pebble leather, Kathine advised me that the embossed letters in the larger size would be best.SPRING 2016
While I waited for Kathine to monogram my purse, I checked out the new Spring collection. Coach’s Executive Creative Director is British born Stuart Vevers who joined their team in 2013 to lead all creative aspects for the brand. 2016 is a big year for Coach as it marks the 75th Anniversary for the house. Vevers pulled out all the stops to celebrate this season, and the runway show was met with excellent review.
The collection has a bohemian 70’s vibes, featuring mixtures of fabrics in delicate floral prints and patterns. I love the combination of the tougher looking biker jackets and leather vests paired with the softer feminine pieces. Saddle bags were featured throughout the show, that perfectly suited the boho 70’s vibe.My favourite part of the collection was the shoes. There were so many cute sandals, and chic sneakers. At the runway show, Vevers said to Vogue: “I don’t think I’ve ever put a heel on the runway at Coach. I just want to make it feel light in spirit and bring some joy to it, and maybe a sense of the American outdoors.”
When Kathine returned with my monogrammed purse, I was beyond excited. It turned out so well and the monogram made it so unique to me. I love the idea of monogramming for Mother’s Day and I will be returning to pick something out for my Mum. I won’t be getting her a saddle bag as she’s not a hand bag type of lady (Unless it can carry her camera. Fun Fact: my mother is a wild life photographer) Coach has so many beautiful options, I know I will find something to suit her style. Adding that little monogram touch makes it really special, which is what Mother’s Day is all about.
