Another Fashion Week season is upon us and I’m excited to be heading back to New York for the Fall 2015 collections. We’ve had a busy and exciting start to the year at Style Calling. I can’t wait to be in the Big Apple, along with my contributor Nikki Dindo. We’ll be attending shows, catching up with industry friends and crossing the MANY places we have to visit during our stay. Check out our list we’ve compiled of all our favourite places to eat, shop, and see in our Travel Calling New York Guide.
As someone who has worked in the fashion industry for over 10 years, fashion week is always a very special time for me to be New York. I have very fond memories of starting out in my career, volunteering at Bryant Park, and saving for the next six months to return the following season. A few years later, I worked with various on PR teams getting ready for the shows, which was exhilarating, exciting and exhausting!
Every time I get to attend fashion week, I count myself lucky. Now that I’m going on the media side of things, I get to see a different side to the shows. I never forget there insane amount of time that goes into prepping each and every show. From the careful model selection, to seating charts and the run of shows to the actual production. There is an insane amount of work that goes into these presentations. It takes a small army of people to bring all the details together.
This particular season is particularly special as it is the last season at Lincoln Centre, and the last season to be sponsored by Mercedes Benz. It has yet to be announced where the next fashion week will be held, and who the title sponsor will be.
I’m really excited to see some of our favourite designer collection, the incredible street style, and catch up with some of my favourite blogger and media friends. There’s lots of content coming up on stylecalling.com so be sure to check back daily.
