This season, the Perry Ellis collection proved that the house is poised to make a confident return to the classic men’s sportswear scene.

Creative Director Michael Maccari – formerly of a veritable who’s who list of American sportswear brands including Ralph Lauren and J.Crew pulled inspiration from both the Perry Ellis archives and traditional men’s workwear for his second collection with the brand.

Streamlining silhouettes by removing superfluous detailing and updating the look and feel through high-tech and sometimes bold fabric choices, Maccari brings to life a collection that is both modern and strong in its approach, while still being classic, uncomplicated and true to its heritage.

A clear love of texture played out across layered looks where abstract printed neoprene sweatshirts mingled with tailored suiting and updated outwear mixed with bold chunky knits. The navy, olive and red houndstooth shawl collar cardigan is stellar update to a classic piece!

With this only being his sophomore showing for Perry Ellis, there is no doubt that Maccari has a clear understanding of where modern menswear is heading and we can’t wait to see more!
