It’s official! Calvin Klein has announced the appointment of Raf Simons as Chief Creative Officer for the brand, effective immediately.
If you are familiar with Raf Simon, you know he is a genius designer. His work at Dior (2012 – 2015) was impeccable, creating collections that were commercially successful, while still staying true to the codes of the luxury french fashion house.
Simons was previous the creative director for Jil Sander, which is a very minimal and clean brand, just like Calvin Klein. As part of his role as Chief Creative Officer, Simons will oversee all aspects of Design, Global Marketing and Communications, and Visual Creative Services. It will be exciting to see what the Raf Simon’s eye will do for Calvin Klein.
The appointment of Simons as Chief Creative Officer marks the implementation of Calvin Klein’s new global creative strategy, announced in April 2016, to unify all Calvin Klein brands under one creative vision. The strategy comes as part of a global evolution of the Calvin Klein brand, which began with the reacquisition of the Calvin Klein Jeans and Calvin Klein Underwear businesses in 2013. His Simons’ first collections will debut for the Fall 2017 season.
