This fashion week season marked my first visit to London Fashion Week. I’ve been lucky to work and attend the shows in New York for almost 10 years, but this was my first time traveling across the pond to see the British collections. London is one of favourites cities, and although the focus of this trip was to see friends, family and explore, I was so excited to experience Fashion Week too.LFW takes place at Somerset House, a Neoclassical building located in central London, overlooking the River Thames. The beautiful building was originally the site of a Tudor palace, designed in 1776. That’s one of the things I love most about London, the architecture is incredible! Before we attended our first show of the season, we walked around to take in venue, and snapped a few photos.
One of the best aspects about London Fashion Week is that it’s all quite central. It reminded me of NYFW when it was held at Bryant Park, and then Lincoln Centre. Many of the shows take place at Somerset House, along with a large showroom upstairs that’s dedicated to an industry trade show. There was an amazing sense of community at the shows and it was fantastic to meet and greet with so many brand reps, designers and industry experts.
The talent in the UK is so unique and inspiring. I’ll be sharing more about London Fashion Week in an upcoming blog post, but I already can’t wait until I can go back and experience more of the British fashion scene.
