A staycation is wonderful way to take a break from the every day. Over the long weekend, we were invite to experience the new JW Marriott hotel at Parq, located in downtown, Vancouver. This luxury hotel is situated on the Parq Property and features a casino, restaurants and hotel amenities. We only live a few blocks away, so it was the perfect place to enjoyed a quick getaway, without the hassle of travel.
This luxury hotel was a pleasure to stay in. The moment we stepped into a lobby, we were greeted by the concierge and checked in with ease. I was excited when we walked into our suite and saw all the natural light and beautiful details. Most hotels are dark, and hard to photograph but this airy space with marble and light coloured features is a bloggers dream!
After settling in, we made our way down to The Victor for dinner, located on the 6th floor of the property. We’ve dined here a few times and it’s become one of my favourite restaurant in the city. The design concept is inspired from the reign of Queen Victoria. My favourite part are the banquets, in beautiful kelly green leather, reminiscent of the seats in London’s chamber in the House of Commons.
Along with craft cocktails and an extensive wine list, the menu features an array of Pacific Northwest seafood and a selection of specialty steaks. They also have excellent vegetarian options. My favourite is the mac & cheese waffles and the cauliflower steak. Even if you’re not staying at the Parq property, the Victor should be on your Vancouver dining list.
The cozy king size bed was hard to leave in the morning, but I popped out first thing to grab coffee and croissants. We were happy to take advantage of the late check out and enjoy a lazy morning in the suite overlooking False Creek. There is a fantastic spot for brunch in the hotel lobby called Honey Salt, but on this occasion a relaxed morning in bed with lattes, magazines and easter eggs was perfect. After departing the hotel, we walked through David Lam Park in Yaletown where all the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. Vancouver is a beautiful city, but Spring time is particularly pretty. It was fun to have a little escape for the every day, and enjoy being tourists in our own town. A good reminder of how lucky we are to call this place home.
