Spring Skincare

Skincare7We all know how important it is to take good care of your skin, but with all the lotions and potions on the market, how ever does one choose? I may not be a beauty expert, but I do try and review my fair share of skincare products for Style Calling. I know what works for my skin, and when I find a brand I love, I want to share it with you. Some of these products I’ve used for years, others are new to my skincare regime. Below are some of the key products I’m using to make sure my skin is in the best condition for Spring.

Dermalogica has been my go to skincare brand for years. My skin tends to be quite sensitive, and I find Dermalogica’s products always very calming. For face wash, I love their Essential Cleansing Lotion. It’s mild and leaves your skin feeling clean and smooth. My favourite product from Dermalogica is their Daily Microfoliant. This season, Dermalogica launched Daily Superfoliant. This highly-active resurfacer makes your skin incredibly smooth, and helps fight the biochemical and environmental triggers known to accelerate skin aging. It’s made with charcoal so it’s more deep cleansing than the Daily Microfoliant. I still prefer the original, but the Superfoliant is fantastic to use once a week when you need that deep clean. Skincare10Charlotte Tilbury
I’m sure you’ve heard the buzz around Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream. Charlotte created this formula years ago while working backstage at fashion week, and would keep small jars of it with her. This became a huge hit with so many of her clients asking for a jar of her ‘magic cream.’ Once Charlotte created her own line of make up (which I’m obsessed with) Magic Cream was on the top of the list of products to bring to the market. It’s super hydrating, and gives your skin a healthy glow. Also, the rose gold packaging is so pretty!

skincare 17Bioré
Deep set in blocked pores can be tough to get rid of. These Bioré Pore Strips provide the deepest clean by lifting away those stubborn black heads. The strip works like a magnet by instantly locking onto and removing deep-down dirt, giving you the deepest clean. They’re oil-free and dermatologist tested. Try to convince your man to use one too! These are especially good to use in the summer when you’re wearing sunscreen, which can really block your pores.

This Greek Yoghurt Smoothie moisturizer is perfect for summer time. Keep it in the fridge for a refreshing moisturizer after a day in the sunshine. It’s a nourishing, hydrating lotion that gives you a glowing complexion. It contains powerful ingredients like antioxidants and hyaluronic acid, along with 26% Greek Yoghurt proteins to plump and strengthen skin. It reduces the appearance of fine lines and helps prep the skin for a long-lasting makeup application.

Rocky Mountain Soap Company
I’m not usually into face masks because my skin is sensitive, but this Lavender and Oat calming face mask by Rocky Mountain Soap Company is fantastic. It soothes and softens your skin, with a vitamin boost of natural and organic botanicals that will leave your skin feeling nourished and calm. It’s 100% natural, handcrafted in small batches in Canada.

Pixi Rose Oil Blend
As you know, I LOVE Pixi’s Glow Tonic, so I was excited to try their rose oil. This botanical blend is infused with a powerful complex of youth-preserving oils to help improve skin’s elasticity and glow. Sweet almond, rosehip, jojoba, pomegranate seed, and rose geranium oils will nourish your skin. I like to mix a few drops with my moisturizer for an extra boost of hydration.
skincare 16NIVEA
Before you cleanse your skin, you have to take off your make up. I’ve used make up remover wipes for years, because I don’t like using just a a cleanser to remove all my make up. I just started using Nivea Facial Cleansing Wipes and I’m loving the results. The gentle formula is enriched with the unique NIVEA Creme Care Complex, gently and effectively cleansing your skin, removing even waterproof makeup without rubbing.

Skincare 20

Dior Beauty
When I first discovered Dream Skin a few years ago in New York, I was instantly hooked. I had never paid so much for a skin care product, but when I saw the incredible results of Dream Skin, I had to have it. It’s an instant skin perfecter. It now has a new, advanced formula with greater instant correction benefits and boosted radiance and blurring effects. Have you ever experienced your make up not going on smoothly? Dream Skin is what you need! It basically creates this smooth layer on your skin, allowing make up to easily glide over top.

On warmer days, I don’t like to wear a lot of make up so Dior’s new Hydra Life BB Creme is perfect. It has SPF 20, and is subtly tinted to conceals imperfections and reduces surface irregularities. Giving you that ‘my skin is perfect, and I’m barely wearing any make up’ look.

Skincare 15

La Prairie
Whenever a package from La Prairie arrives at my door, I’m SO excited! This season, I’ve been lucky enough to try two of their incredible products. The collection is pricey, but deliver fantastic results. To start, the Line Interception Power Duo Moisturizer comes in such a cool package. Two distinct formulas, one cream for day and one for night. It helps reduce wrinkles and smooth out lines. My skin always feels so nourished and smooth whenever I apply it. You don’t need a lot of the lotion either. A little goes a long way.

Secondly, La Prairie’s White Caviar Illuminating Pearl Infusion is a breakthrough in the science of skin brightening. How cool are the Iridescent pearls of golden caviar extract?! Each pearl is filled with Vitamin C and an anti-pollution matrix blend with a brightening gel. This serum evens skin tone by minimizing dull grey tone, redness and age spots. This is a very luxurious product, and feels absolutely wonderful on your skin. Plus, it looks oh so lovely on your make up table!

Have you tried any of these products? I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments below!

  • Love all of your selection, reading this has reminded me of how much I used to love using the Dermalogica Daily Exfoliant – it holy grail and when i have finished with some of my stash I will have to revisit this x

    • Thank you so much! I absolutely LOVE Dermalogica Daily Exfoliant. I haven’t found another exfoliant like it. So gentle, but still cleans your skin so well. Have you tried the new Superfoliant? If your skin isn’t sensitive, it’s worth giving a try.

  • Kate

It’s funny how skin can change so much. Two years ago I had perfect skin minus redness. Now, I have the absolute worst big breakouts…..EVERYWHERE! I’d kill to have my old skin back

    • Isn’t it so funny?! Thats one of the reason I like to try different products. Thanks for stopping by Style Calling Kate 🙂

    • Thanks Nistha – happy to hear that 🙂

  • I’m also completely obsessed with Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant – it’s been a total game-changer for me! I’m pleased to hear that it’s still your fave even after trying the new Superfoliant, as I’ve been debating whether to swap or not. Thanks for the fabulous review!

Gabrielle | A Glass Of Ice | Worldwide NARS Beauty Giveaway x

    • Isn’t it SO good?! I’m obsessed with Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant too. I find the microfoliant more gentle than the superfoliant. That one is made with charcoal, so you get a really good clean, bit my skin is really sensitive, so I’ll only use it once a week. See if you can get a sample next time you see the brand. Worth trying out 🙂

  • Kiri Yanchenko

You are so lucky to be able to try the la praire. I cant afford it.
It is interesting you love dermalogica and find it calming.
I can’t use it – it is too drying for my sensitive skin. I like alhpa h better.

  • I need to try that Magic cream! It looks incredible
