Early signs of a new season are my favourite. Currently we’re experiencing the first glimpses of summer and I’m getting excited to wear sandals and cute sun dresses. While in London, it was early Spring, and we were lucky to have a sunny weekend in the city. I love these moments of change, but it can also makes sartorial choices challenging. On this day out in Notting Hill, I wore bare legs but still bundled up in this cute faux fur coat, just incase we were too eager for sunshine!
Notting Hill is one of my favourite places to wander around. I couldn’t wait to spend the day here with two of my best friends. Kristy, who I grew up with in South Africa, and Cindy who had just arrived from Vancouver. We made our way down to Portobello Road to shop for antiques, see the cute pastel houses and enjoy the glorious London sunshine.
I unpacked my summer wardrobe this weekend. A new season is an excellent excuse to take inventory of what you have in your wardrobe. Try things on, decide what you still love, and what to donate. Every year, I’m defining my style more and more, making more informed choices of what to add to my wardrobe. Keeping the classics, and peppering in fun trends. Like this cute barrette I picked up after seeing it everywhere at London Fashion Week.
I went to every high street store in London to buy a barrette for Paris Fashion Week, and couldn’t find them anywhere! This style had just hit instagram via fashion week, but the stores hadn’t quite caught up yet. Fast forward two weeks and hair clips were everywhere. I found this one eventually at Accessorize, and a beautiful vintage one at a market in Paris.
I’m excited for summer time and days spent in light, breezy outfits. My coats and sweaters have been stored for the season, but I know I will be happy to see all my favourite pieces at the start of the next season.
