As always, Summer feels like it’s over too quickly. Although this year, it really felt like we missed out. The sunny days of the season were anything but carefree. Despite trying to make the best of it, Summer 2020 was tough.
I’ve been keeping what I like to call, Summer Office Hours. After a challenging Spring with the fall out from COVID, I needed to quiet things down. Although my work plate was full again, it was the only thing I could focus on. Working from home is an adjustment, and easily takes over all spare time. I poured myself into my work over the past two months, taking my foot off the gas with everything else. It felt necessary, in order to do my job well, and give myself a break.
During this time at home, we’ve been doing our best to maintain a balance with screentime and downtime. We try make a point to close our laptops at 5pm, hop in the car to go somewhere in beautiful Vancouver to walk, without crowds. We’re located downtown, so a quick drive out of the city centre and you’re in the forest, on the beach or in the mountains. This is a habit I hope to continue this Fall.
As summer comes to a close, and the air gets crisp, I’m excited to get back into the swing of things. To use my voice to share what I love, what I believe in and create more content for Style Calling. We all need space to grow and refocus on what’s important. A lesson many of us have learned in different ways this summer.
