Sun Kissed

Tanning 3 Even though I’m South African, my skin is naturally pale. My British genes on my Dad’s side are strong, and achieving a natural tan is a challenge. We all know it’s not healthy to lay out in the sun all day, so I’m achieving my sun kissed look with self tanners. The improvement in self tanners over the past few years has been dramatic. Less orange, more natural results, and at very reasonable price points.

This summer, I’ve been sent so many tanning products to test out, and I’ve found some real gems. It’s very much a personal preference, and a bit of trial and error to find the perfect product but I’ve done the leg work (pardon the pun) to give you some insight into my favourites. And who doesn’t want to look sun kissed and bronzed in the summer?

Tanning 7ST. TROPEZ
St. TropezΒ is known as one of the best self tanning brand for achieving a deep, rich colour. It creates natural bronze looking skin almost instantly, and sets into a noticeable tan. I love their Gradual Tan Classic foam. It easy to apply and makes you look like you’ve been on a really good summer vacation. For your face, their gradual tan veil is perfect for daily use. It’s quick drying, allowing you to apply your make up shortly afterwards.

Tanning 10Tanning 8CHARLOTTE TILBURY
I’m a huge fan of Charlotte Tilbury’s make up line, and her tanning products did not disappoint. Apply the Overnight Bronze and Glow mask before bed and wake up with sun kiss skin. Doesn’t that sound wonderful? This has been my go to face bronzer this summer, and I LOVE the results.

The Beach Stick is perfect for on the go make up. The golden shimmers are easily blend, illuminating your skin with colour saturated pigments for a sun kissed glow. You can apply it on your lips or on your cheeks for a pop of colour.

Tanning 9JERGENS
I’ve been using Jergen’s self tanner for years. I like it because the product builds colour gradually, allowing you to control your level of tan very easily. It also ensures no streaking, and a natural looking tan. If you’re new to self tanning, or have fair skin and don’t want your tan to be too dark, this is a perfect product to begin with. Jergen’s has multiple lotions and formulas that double as a moisturizer. It’s cheap and cheerful, and available at your local drugstore.
Tanning 6VITA LIBERATA
This brand was new to me, and after testing it, I can highly recommend Vita Liberata. Their Ten Minute Tan is a rapid performance tanning lotion that allows you to shower ten minutes after application. It’s fast acting tan delivers a perfect, natural, golden tan within 4 – 6hrs. Vitamin C from Neroli, and Omega Oils from Rosehip further lock in moisture for deep hydration, which is so needed after time in the sunshine. This is the perfect product to use after a day in the sunshine to make your natural colour look even better!

  • Kiri Yanchenko

I don’t use self tanner – because I like my skin extra pale. I also avoid the sun because I don’t like my freckles which I get really easily. I know if St Tropez – I think they might be Australian. We also have gotten Jergens here just recently. They have a massive range. I liked the look of their stuff – but I prefer to buy Australian brands. The CT beach stick sounds great!
She is doing a huge push here…

  • These sounds like great products! I don’t use a self tanner too often, and when I do it’s usually just on my legs. Luckily I am headed to Greece, so I’m all about that natural tan from here on out haha. Though I always always use sunscreen. πŸ˜‰

    • Oooh have fun in Greece! That’s going to be such a wonderful vacation. Have fun!

  • Siffat Haider

I’ve heard incredible things about the St. Tropez gradual tan. I haven’t tried it quite yet, but it’s definitely on my radar. Personally, I use the Vita Liberata Body Blur and love it. I love that it has no wait time, but on the downside, it leaks all over my clothes lol! I need to try their 10 minute tan.

    • Oh it does?? Downside of tanning products! You rinse off the 10 minute tan so theres less transfer to clothes. St Tropez is always a goodie. Perfect for a deeper, richer tan. Happy Summer time xo
