Spending time in the sunshine is a big part of summer time fun, until you get a sunburn! We all know how important it is to protect your skin from the harsh sun rays, but we still want to achieve that sun kissed glow. I’m fair skinned, so skin protection is very important to me. I’ve been testing and trying various sunscreens and self tanners over the last few weeks and I’ve found some real winners. I’m sharing a few of my favourites that I’ll be keeping in my beauty routine into the Fall.
I don’t know about you, but I’m a lot less likely to bask out in the sunshine when I already have a bit of colour. Having a perfect faux tan is much easier to achieve than it was a few years ago. The technology in these products has improved drastically! Less streaking, more natural colour and a lot easier to apply.
St. Tropez Gradual Tan
St. Tropez has some of the best tanning products on the market. I’ve tried a few in the collection, but their Gradual Classic Tan is my favourite. It creates a natural, sun kissed bronzed colour, and you’re able to apply it daily to increase the darkness of your tan. It has a really nice scent and goes on very smoothly. St Tropez also has awesome tanning mitts, which ensures the products is distributed evenly.
Jergens Instant Sun
This is the perfect quick fix tanner. It comes in two shades, light and deep bronze. You’ll see instant results when you apply the mousse, so it’s perfect if you need to look sun kissed quick. Since the colour works fast, I would suggest using a tanning mitt for this product too, or just be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after application.
Ombrelle’s Ultra Light Advanced Tinted Face Lotion
I don’t like to wear a lot of make up in the summer, so Ombrelle’s tinted face lotion is an ideal two in one product. It has SPF 60, and a lightly tinted formula to provide a little bit of colour coverage. It’s hypoallergenic, fragrance free and water resistant for to up to 80 minutes. The formula is super light, so it feels like a light moisturizer rather than a heavy sunscreen. It’s a cheap and cheerful price point too, so I’ll definitely be stocking up, and using this through the Fall.
Coola Classic Sunscreen
This is THE BEST face sunscreen I’ve ever used. That’s a big statement, but it’s true! The moment I opened the tube of Coola Classic and smelt the light, pretty fragrance of white tea, I was intrigued. The consistency is light and feels like a refreshing moisturizer. This makes it very easy to apply make up over the sunscreen and with a SPF 50, you will be very well protected. I’ve been carrying this tube in my purse all summer, and when I give it to friends to try, they are just as impressed. Mainly because it doesn’t feel like a thick sunscreen, and won’t block your pores either
I love the spray applicator of the BeautyCounter’s CounterSun Mineral sunscreen. It sprays on white, which helps ensure you’ve covered all your sun exposed skin. It’s a very light formula so it blends in easily, and dries quickly without leaving an oily residue. The spray container is non aerosol, and uses compressed air to dispense the sunscreen. It also comes in a lotion which I’ve been using this summer too. Both are easy to apply, and don’t have any chemical smell, so it feels like you’re just applying a moisturizer.
Kerastase Discipline Collection
The hot summer rays can be very harsh on your hair, so having a deep conditioning hair care system, like the Discipline line by Keraste is a must! After a day in the sun, I love using the hair mask before I wash my hair with their shampoo and conditioner It replenishes moisture, tames frizz and creates smooth, define curls for that perfect beach wave style.
