Our Insider’s Guide to New York City

“There is something in the New York air that makes sleep useless.” -Simone De Beauvoir

New York City

New York – A city filled with excitement, adventure and glamour. Exuding an air of allure, romance and mystery. New York City is simply unlike any other city in the world.

Stay: Empire Hotel · 44 West 63rd Street · 212-265-7400

Sexy, stylish and fun. This quintessential Manhattan hotel is located in the heart of the Upper West Side, directly across from Lincoln Center, and within walking distance to Central Park. The chic rooftop bar has a great atmosphere, and a spectacular view of the city. Have a Gossip Girl moment, and enjoy the Chuck Bass cocktail at the Lobby Bar. It is his hotel, after all.

Brunch: Jack’s Wife Freda · 224 Lafayette Street · 212-510-8550

The incredibly popular brunch spot, Jack’s Wife Freda offers a menu as unique as their name. This charming, fun-loving bistro is an absolute must. The food is homey, delicious and oh so satisfying. We recommend their Rosewater Waffle paired with a Canteloupe Mimosa.

Lunch: Eataly · 200 5th Avenue · 212-229-2560

One of our favourite eateries in NYC is Eataly. If you love Italian food, a stroll through this Italian market is probably as close to nirvana as you’ll ever get. From the Lavazzo espresso and the wood oven pizza, to the Nutella bar and fresh Burrata and everything in between, this is a great place to enjoy lunch or an entire afternoon.

Dinner: Balthazar · 80 Spring Street · 212-965-1414

A New York institution, Balthazar is the perfect mix of old Hollywood glamour and Paris in the 1920’s and is located right in the heart of Soho. The delicious French fare, décor reminiscent of a French patisserie and a wonderful ambience makes Balthazar a must on your trip to New York.

Sip: Buddakan · 75 9th Avenue · 212-989-6699

Famous for being the spot of Carrie and Big’s rehearsal dinner in Sex and the City, Buddakan is a seriously chic establishment. Serving up Asian Fusion cuisine alongside delicious cocktails, this is one of the hottest spots in the Meatpacking District. Try the Haze Martini: perfection served in the form of Reyka Vodka, Lychee, Nigori Sake and Grapefruit Bitters.

See: A Broadway Show · A Gentleman’s Guide To Love And Murder · 219 W 48th Street

An absolute must on any trip to New York is seeing a Broadway show. Broadway has dazzled audiences since the founding of the city; from musical comedies to straight plays, there’s something for everyone. This year, we recommend the Tony Award winning show A Gentleman’s Guide To Love And Murder. Murder, betrayal and infidelity turn comical with a little bit of music and a dash of dancing.

Shop: Soho · Rebecca Minkoff · Olive & Bette’s · Laduree

SoHo is one of the best enclaves for shopping in Manhattan. It’s an intoxicating area where one can find designer boutiques, one-of-a-kind shops, and everything in between. The architecture adds to the experience of this uber-fashionable district where historic cast-iron fronted buildings sit atop ornate cobblestoned streets.

Designer Rebecca Minkoff has just opened her flagship location in the heart of SoHo, a cutting edge store that combines fashion and technology in an unprecedented way. Olive & Bette’s is a charming SoHo boutique filled with unique pieces. After all that shopping, be sure to indulge at the famed French bakery, Laduree. One of the best makers of macarons in the world, these are flown in daily from France. While all of the flavours are delicious, don’t miss the Salted Caramel or the Pistachio. From the pastel-green storefront to the beautiful displays, Laduree is mesmerizing in every way.

Spa: La Prairie · 50 Central Park S · 212-521-6135

After long days exploring the city, an afternoon of pampering at La Prairie’s spa is the perfect way to unwind. Located in the Ritz Carlton Hotel, the exclusive La Prairie Spa is one of the most luxurious spas in Manhattan. This boutique spa offers decadent treatments and services featuring La Praire beauty products, in a beautiful and serene setting. We recommend trying the Platinum Rare Facial and the Swedish Massage.
