The Okanagan is a wonderful summer destination. The weather is hot, the lakes are pristine, and it’s home to lots of fantastic wineries. I was invited on a media trip to experience BC Wine Country and explore the Oliver and Osooyos area. It was my first time visiting the region and I had no idea how incredibly beautiful it is.
There are over 32 wineries of all different sizes scattered throughout, covering acres and acres of land. I drove down from Vancouver with three of my blogger friends: Cindy from The Vancouverite, Jen from Jeyla Loves, and Alicia from Go Live Explore. We spent four relaxing days at a beautiful villa at Black Hill Winery, soaking up the sunshine and drinking plenty of BC wine.
One of the main events of the weekend was the Half Cork Marathon. An absolute hilarious fun run though 16 vineyards. There were 1200 runners participating – many in full costume. While there are no set rules for dress code for the event, having fun and dressing up is encouraged. It was incredible to see the creativity and commitment of the costume. This year marked the 10 year anniversary of the Half Cork Marathon, and it was recently voted Event of the Year at the Canadian Tourism Awards. We made our way from vineyard to vineyard sampling delicious wine, taking in the stunning views and checking out everyone’s outfit. The race route was such a cool way to experience so many wineries. It’s easy to see why this event has become so popular over the last few years.
The night before the race we attended the Primavera long table dinner for a delicious pre-race pasta meal. We wore flower crowns designed by the amazing team at Celsia Floral, and captured these photos walking through the beautiful location to dinner. We had so much fun frolicking through the vineyards in pretty dresses and tasting all the delicious BC wine. I was so taken with the beauty of the region, I will definitely be back next summer. But for now, I have a nice collection of BC wines to enjoy until our next visit.
