December can be the most wonderful time of the year, but it can also really horrid. The lead up to Christmas is frantically busy and there never seems to be enough hours in the day. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle, and forget what the season is truly about.
One of the ways I like to unwind during the Holidays is listening to Christmas carols. One of my favourite lyrics is playing as I write this. ‘Westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to thy perfect Light.’ I’m trying not to get too crazy this Christmas, although it’s easier said than done. The malls are insane, we’re wrapping up work for the year and prepping for lots of Holiday events. Not to mention trying to get blog photos done when its below zero!
Given the frigid temperatures, shooting outfit photos this time of year has proven to be tricky. We only had two rain free days the whole of November and we’ve already had three snow days this December! This always make the city a bit crazy as it’s a very unusual occurrence. Most of us don’t even have proper winter coats (mine all are up in Whistler!)
We ventured down to take these photos by the water at Granville island one Sunday morning. It was cold, but the light was wonderful. In the end I’m always happy I got up early and braved the elements to get photos. It’s kind of like holiday prep. It often feels like a mission to get done, but when you can sit back and enjoy your hard work (preferably with a glass of wine) it all makes it worth it.
