Beauty products expire, so it’s a good idea to edit your cosmetics every six months or so. A new season has arrived, so it’s the perfect time to Spring clean your make up collection and update a few key items.
As a blogger, I’m lucky to receive cosmetics from various brands to try and test out. I had a lot of fun putting this post together and narrowing down my favourite items of the season to share with you. Here’s what made the cut for my beauty bag this Spring.
My go to foundation brand for years has been Dior. They have multiple formulas to choose from depending on your beauty needs. I particular like the Nude BB Cream for the Spring time. It’s super lightweight, but still provides you with a smoothed out complexion. For more coverage, I use Nude Air liquid foundation. It’s ideal to apply with the Dior Backstage Blender, and can be combined with the BB Cream too.
New to my beauty routine is Dior’s STAR Foundation. This is Dior’s first brightening foundation created with a weightless, fluid formula. It uses hollow silica beads to capture and diffuse light in a correcting halo with no shine. I just started using this product, and so far I’m loving the result of the even complexion and natural glow it creates.
The Fix It 2-in-1 Prime & Conceal is another great foundation product, perfect for touch ups through the day. The Fix It conceals facial blemishes, helps erase undereye circles and dark areas. You can also use it as a primer for your lips before applying lipstick.
I’m always on the look out for good all in one make up palettes and I’ve found two this season I really like. Charlotte Tilbury’s Beauty Glow is the ideal palette for your entire complexion. It contains all the powders and shadows you need for bronzed, beautiful, fresh and radiant skin. You know, Charlotte Tilbury is the Queen of creating the perfect glow.
For Eye Shadow, I love this NARS Palette, containing 12 neutral, velvety shadows. I particularly like that there are lots of matte, blendable shades, making this a really useful palette. The shadows are infused with pomegranate seed oil, vitamin E, and gingko biloba extract which helps smooth skin and create the perfect base for effortless blending.
Blush and Bronze
Charlotte Tilbury Swish and Pop palettes are perfect for creating that finish touch of colour on your cheeks. These palettes contains pigments with finely crushed pearls that smooth & buff your skin with rich colour. For bronzer, I’m loving bareMinerals’ two new palettes; Invisible Bronzer and Invisible Glow. Consisting of silky, ultra-fine reflective pearls that creates a healthy bronzed and highlighted glow.
My go to brand for mascara’s is Smashbox Cosmetics. The Full Exposure is my favourite for it’s full lash effect, and lengthening fibers formula. It’s smudge and flake free, and builds lots of volume. Smashbox makes so many fantastic mascaras, you can easily find the one that suits your lash needs. Lipsticks and Liners
I couldn’t believe how well priced the Essence collection is. Next time you’re at the drug store, keep an eye out for this brand. I particularly like their long lasting lipstick. The formula is very moisturizing and rich in colour. I opted for the pink shades, but there are lots of pretty colours to choose from. For lipliners, the Buxom Plumpline Lip Liner pencils are great for lining or filling in lip colour. Each pencil also has a built-in brush that makes it easy to blend and contour the perfect pout.
