The cold weather can be really harsh on your skin. To combat dryness, I’m constantly switching up my skincare products to find the perfect potion that works for me.
From exfoliators to face oils, I’ve rounded up my favourite products I’ve been using to keep my skin soft and glowing throughout the winter season.
Whether you have dry, normal, oily or sensitive skin, exfoliation can bring new life to your complexion. It helps clean your pores, remove dead skin cells, and helps your skin absorb more water. It also helps your make up go on smoother, which makes it a vital step in your skin care regime.
The Clarisonic cleansing device is a beauty must have. I’ve been using it for two years now, and I love the results. It cleanses 11 times more effectively than using your hands, giving you a smooth, clean, radiant skin. The device is waterproof so you can use it in the shower or bath.
I’ve been using Dermalogica Microfoliant for almost 5 years, and it’s one of my all time favourite products. It consists of a fine powder exfoliant that you mix with water. It makes your skin so smooth, and removes any dry patches you may be experiencing. I often mix it with my Dermalogica Ultra Calming Face Wash.
My skin can be quite sensitive to soap, so I always look for gentle cleansers that will soothe my skin. Mereadesso is a Canadian brand, created by Linda Stephenson. Linda has created the perfect botanical balance for all her products. The cleanser also come in handy travel sachet, perfect to have in your purse or hand luggage.
Another favouirte is Dermalogica’s Ultra Calming cleanser. A trusted Canadian skincare brand, developed by dermatologists. This cleansing gel has no artificial fragrance or colour, and always leaves my skin feeling clean and soothed.
I keep Murad’s Essential C Cleanser in the shower. The vitamin c is fantastic to use in the morning when you’re waking up. The cleansing beads are a gentle exfoliant, which I like to do before I apply my make up.

A good moisturizer is one of the key steps for soft skin. I savour every ounce of my La Prairie skin moisturizer. I’ve been using the Caviar Skin care all winter and it is incredible! It’s super light and perfect to wear under make up. Recently, I received the luxurious Cellular Radiance Perfecting Fluide Pure Gold. It’s a pricey product, but worth the investment if you can afford it (available at Holt Renfrew.)
Mereadesso’s All in One Moisturizer has been my go to for the past 3 years. It’s a single-step solution for your face and neck. It will give you the results of using your moisturizer, serum, primer, day cream, night cream and eye cream, all in one! This lightweight gel-lotion’s globally sourced ingredients include 16 botanical extracts, 8 minerals and enzymes and over 20 antioxidants. It’s easy to apply, quick to absorb and the longer you use it, the less you’ll need it.
Another favourite is Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic cream. Charlotte didn’t name this product. Her clients did! Charlotte has worked on some of the most famous faces in the business, including Kate Moss and Kim Kardashian who are both obsessed with Magic Cream. It’s a secret mix of patented anti-age ingredients, a hyaluronic acid booster plus floral extracts that lift and transform tired skin in an instant.

I’m new to face masks. It’s not something I ever felt was necessary, until I tried For Beloved One. Available at T&T market, this face mask contains multiple moisturizing ingredients that provide outstanding moisturizing effects and restore the youthfulness of your skin.
Kat Burki’s Hydrating Mask comes in a tube (photo above) It’s moisturizing gel that you leave on for 20 minutes. The mask improves elasticity helping you achieve more radiant skin. It utilizes pro B vitamins to enhance skin vitality and encourage natural emollient production. It’s also specially formulated for softer skin, and ideal if you need a quick hydration step.

I discovered the joys of face oils a few months ago, and they have been a life saver, especially during the cold months. Face oils gives your skin the extra moisture boost it needs during the cold months. My two favourite oils are Marula and The Body Shop’s Oils of Life.
Marula is the one product my boyfriend ALWAYS steals! We used this down to the very last drop. Created from the Marula nut, the oil is incredibly absorbent and effective. It’s anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and reduces any redness. I’m obsessed with their oil and would highly recommend tying it if you are don’t have a face oil in your beauty routine.
The Body Shop’s Oil’s of Life line has a beautiful light fragrance. They also have a body oil that I love to mix with my lotion for that extra moisture boost.
Finally, Body moisturizer:
A good body lotion will lock in moisture and softens rough areas of your skin. Mereadesso, SkinFix and Bliss are my favourites.
Mereadesso just released their body butter. I love the scents of all the Mereadesso products. The mix of vitamins and minerals, along with 28 globally sourced botanical extracts leaves your skin nourished, soft and lightly scented.
I was introduced to SkinFix last summer. Their moisturizer are clinically proven to soothe irritated skin and made from natural ingredients that work to quickly prevent skin problems. It has no added fragrance and is perfect to use on elbows and heels.
In anticipation of summer, this Bliss body lotion has a lovely fragrance combination of grapefruit and aloe. Not overly scented, but a soft sweet citrus smell. It’s highly moisturizer, and perfect to wear as the weather starts to finally warm up! (How many weeks now til Spring?!)
